Bognor Birdman  
 

Both Bognor and Worthing claim to be the home of this event; whichever it is a good excuse for a day by the sea. In 1971 a prize was offered for anyone who could fly the grand distance of 50 yards, and the Birdman Competition was launched. Every year a collection of brave, daring men and women dressed in bizarre outfits compete for this prize. Whether you see this as a serious endeavour or just a bunch of nutters jumping off the end of the pier it is certainly a good fun event.

Old Leigh High St closes to allow the entertainment, competitions, side shows, craft stalls and water events. There will be live music for all tastes, Morris dancing, banana eating, cracker eating and cockle eating competitions.
